Robyn Gurney has been appointed as the Sponsorship and Corporate Sales rep at the Cambridge Raceway.

The 28-year-old Waikato University graduate is new to the harness racing industry and that suits ‘The Raceway's’ CEO Dave Branch.

"We have a fresh young team working at Cambridge and that excites me. We all have new ideas and it is always encouraging to hear what people from outside the industry think. We welcome Robyn to our team. She has a wonderful CV I'm sure she will offer a lot to Waikato - BOP Harness," Branch said.

As well as seeking out sponsorship and corporate sales, Gurney will also look after sponsors on race nights.

“I’m a ‘newbie’ to the industry but am really excited about the job. I love being part of a youthful and positive team.  They are all passionate about what they do and even though I’m inexperienced in racing I know I’m going to enjoy the job. Their enthusiasm is catching,” Gurney said.

A mother of two who has a degree in communication specialising in health and PR, Gurney said she was looking forward to securing new sponsors and working with existing supporters of the club.

“I’ll be doing my best to take care of all of them. I’m really looking forward to the race meetings ahead, especially my first Jewels Finals with $1.2 million in stakes on June 2. That will be really
exciting and one area where I will be putting a lot of my focus,” Gurney said.
